Afterschool Beginner Violin Program

Discover the Joy of Playing Violin

Our afterschool beginner violin program offers students the opportunity to discover the joy of making music while developing the foundational skills needed to become confident young musicians. The program follows the Boerne ISD school calendar and is designed as a supportive, engaging introduction to violin for students with little or no previous experience.

Over the course of 24 afterschool lessons, students will learn the fundamentals of violin playing while building musical skills that extend far beyond the instrument. Through a combination of instruction, games, listening, movement, and ensemble playing, students will explore:

• Beginner violin technique and proper playing fundamentals

• Reading music and understanding musical notation

• Rhythm, pulse, and musical timing

• Listening and developing a musical ear

• Playing together and collaborating with other students

• Musical confidence, creativity, and expression

• The joy, discipline, and fun of learning an instrument

Performance Opportunity

Students will have the opportunity to participate in Blizzard of Bows, the Boerne ISD Orchestra Christmas Extravaganza, giving them a chance to experience the excitement of performing alongside other young musicians and becoming part of the larger Boerne music community.

As the program grows, we hope to create a pathway for students to continue their musical education through the orchestra programs at Boerne Middle School North, Boerne Middle School South, and Voss Middle School.

Enrollment & Tuition

The program consists of 24 afterschool lessons and follows the Boerne ISD school calendar.

Tuition is $30 per lesson, for a total semester tuition of $720 for 24 lessons.

Different payment options will be available to make enrollment accessible to families. Families may choose the payment option that works best for them, with full-semester payment available as well as other arrangements.

Limited scholarships are available for families who may need financial assistance. Scholarship support is limited and will be awarded based on availability. Please fill out the scholarship form below.

Students will need access to a violin for the duration of the program. Instrument rental or purchase is required, and guidance will be provided to families in selecting an appropriately sized instrument and reliable rental or purchase option.

Meet Your Instructor

My name is Jeanann Dara Seidman, I am a Juilliard-trained violinist and violist and spent nearly 20 years living and performing in New York City. My professional career has included performance, collaboration, education, and work with musicians and artists across a wide range of musical disciplines.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of introducing hundreds of children to the joy of music and the process of learning violin. I believe that learning an instrument should be both rigorous and joyful—that children should develop strong musical foundations while also discovering their own curiosity, creativity, confidence, and voice.

This program is designed to give young musicians that first experience: learning to listen, learning to play, learning to work together, and discovering how much fun it can be to make music.

Policy

Semester Enrollment & Cancellation Policy: Enrollment is for the full semester. Semester tuition is due in full upon registration and reserves a student's place in the program. Tuition is non-refundable once the semester begins, except in cases of serious illness, family emergency, or other circumstances approved by the program director. Student absences do not qualify for refunds, credits, or make-up classes. If the program cancels a class, a make-up class or prorated credit will be provided. Families who withdraw before the semester begins may receive a refund according to the cancellation schedule outlined at registration.

Payment Options

Families may choose from the following payment options:

• Pay in full: $720 at the beginning of the program.

• Payment plan: Tuition may be divided into scheduled installments for family convenience.

A payment plan is a payment schedule for the 24-lesson program and is not a month-to-month enrollment option. Choosing an installment plan does not change the total program tuition or the student's enrollment commitment.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy

Enrollment in the violin program is based on a 24-lesson commitment. Families may withdraw from the program by providing 14 days' written notice. Tuition for lessons occurring during the 14-day notice period remains due. Any prepaid tuition for lessons scheduled after the withdrawal date will be refunded. Missed lessons and absences are non-refundable and do not reduce tuition. In cases of significant family emergency or other exceptional circumstances, the program may offer a prorated refund or other accommodation at its discretion.

We understand that circumstances can change. If a student needs to withdraw from the program, families should provide 14 days' written notice. Tuition for lessons occurring during the 14-day notice period remains due. Any tuition that has been prepaid for lessons occurring after the withdrawal date will be refunded.

Missed lessons, vacations, transportation issues, or voluntary absences do not qualify for a tuition refund.

In the event of a significant family circumstance or other exceptional situation, the program may consider an alternative arrangement or prorated refund on a case-by-case basis.

Parent/Guardian Agreement

By enrolling a student in the Afterschool Violin Program, the parent or guardian acknowledges and agrees to the program's enrollment, payment, attendance, withdrawal, and refund policies.
